Students compete in one of 15 sections at the Queen City

Classic Chess Tournament.

home lives or situations that make them feel ordinary and unimportant like

a pawn, they have the power and the potential to become a queen.

Today, Chess in Schools has more than eight schools on a waiting list

to bring the program to their classrooms, and schools are accepted on a

first-come, first-served basis. Offering the program in a school costs about

$2,500 for a year. The goal is to get the program into all the Cincinnati

Public Schools and as many private inner-city schools as possible, which

would require fundraising throughout the year to sustain the program at

that level.
